Nutritional needs of children with severe disabilities

Funding of R40 000 per annum would give De Heide Special Care Centre the opportunity to provide all 28 children with vital nutritional supplements each day.

Description

De Heide Special Care Centre responds to the needs of 28 vulnerable children with severe to profound disabilities. They attend De Heide daily against a backdrop of continued poverty, inequality, violence and social exclusion. Lack of basic commodities very often result in the children having poor nutrition with subsequent health problems which leave them less able to focus on their daily ‘programme’ at De Heide. Through the provision of good nutritional supplements De Heide would be able to significantly improve the quality of life of these children.
